MICHELLE PENTELL,B.S.,MSW, LCSW.

I am passionate about supporting and working with all people. My ideal clients are those who want to be self- aware, mindful and confident; those who want their lives to reflect their values and beliefs. Helping clients to recognize and understand the mind-body connection and to understand how thoughts directly affect behavior is my passion. All people are a work in progress. Life situations can sometimes be extremely difficult and counseling can be a helpful tool in progressing beyond and through certain challenges. Helping clients to develop healthy coping and problem-solving skills is my specialty.

I am an inclusive, eclectic, research-based counselor that chooses theories and techniques that are helpful to the individual and family. I utilize CBT and DBT therapies which helps individuals better understand and manage their thoughts and emotions in order to achieve relief from feelings of distress.

I believe in the power of mindfulness and living each moment with feelings of gratitude. I have found this technique to be beneficial personally and professionally and hope to pass this on to my clients.

About my background, I attended University of Wisconsin Madison where I received a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Psychology in 1999. I earned my master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University in 2001, where I completed advanced studies in generalist practice and programming in gerontology. I have worked in a variety of settings providing individual, and group therapies both in outpatient and inpatient settings. I am CBT certified, DBT trained and am a member of CAMFT.

I am licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW 25531) since 2009.
